Without a doubt Raja Ampat has been discovered. In a way this is a good thing as local reef bombing and cyanide poisoning is mostly a thing of the past. The number of livaboard boats operating out of Sarong have doubled in the last few years and some of the Indonesian provinces are now clambering for a part of the monetary windfall. With all that aside, RA is one of the best overall dive destinations and still economic. Just beware, Indonesia does not have strong regulatory enforcement of vessel safety so please do your homework before who you decide to book a trip with.
